AFCA is governed by a board of directors and has two staff members, a General Manager and Safety Field Officer (Tasmania). The General Manager operates from Melbourne, Victoria. The Safety Field Officer operates within Tasmania only and has been providing services to members and non-members on a ‘fee for service’ basis since July 2015 following the cessation of a long term contract with Forestry Tasmania.
AFCA also engages the support of consultants for specialist expertise as identified as needs arise.
Stacey Gardiner is the General Manager of AFCA. Stacey joined AFCA in March 2015. Previously she worked within the agricultural sector and in Land Use Planning within the public sector.
She holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and a Master’s degree in Land Use Planning. She believes that collaboration and stakeholder engagement is key to policy development, enjoys fostering partnerships and working towards long term strategic goals.
In May 2019, Stacey joined the AFPA Board as a non-voting contributor and is also currently Chair of the Forest Management and Harvesting Industry Reference Committee.
She believes that improved collaboration between all stakeholders is key to delivering the best outcomes for members, and will achieve the greatest impact to ensure the industry is safe, creates new employment opportunities and growth into the future.
Safety Field Officer (Tasmania)
Ray provides a ‘fee for service’ for AFCA members, non-members Forestry Contracting Businesses and forest managers within Tasmania. He provides a range of services from advice on Safety Management Systems and Safety Compliance Checks as well assessment for FOLS and a range of practices undertaken on harvest and haulage operations. Ray has a passion for safety and participates in a number of committees and forums that highlight safety and its importance. In 2016, Ray celebrated 30 years’ service to our industry which was fantastic milestone to have reached.
