The draft has been reviewed by a targeted group to check for accuracy and identify possible issues or concerns prior to it being released more widely. This resulted in a range of feedback which has been considered and the Log Haulage Code, Dec 18 reflects some of the suggested changes.
The Feedback and Response Table provides important context to the information included within the current DRAFT and all stakeholders are encouraged to read the table.
The feedback within the Table has been categorised as follows:
Agreed and Updated (green shading)
Gap (red shading)
Additional Consultation required (yellow shading)
Statement no change (white – no shading)
Key Areas for Industry discussion and decision
As a result of the targeted feedback there are 5 key areas which have been identified which require further consideration and direction from industry. These key areas need to be considered with respect to what should industry ‘best practice’ look like and what can industry achieve with consideration of ‘as low as reasonably practicable’:
Use and implementation of blocking systems
Limitations of Manual tensioners
Crowning requirements for load restraint needs
Quantity of lashings required
Current requirement for 0.35 SRT for vehicle stability
Consultation and Feedback
All industry parties are encouraged to review and provide any feedback they may have on the DRAFT. Feedback is being sought from now until the end of February 2019.
Feedback can be provided in any form and can be made collectively from a group or individually or a business. To assist in the process a feedback form has been created.
All feedback can be submitted to email@example.com and will be collated, reviewed and summarised. Feedback is to be received by Friday 1 March 2019.
It is important when submitting feedback that you identify a key contact. A key contact is important should further information or clarification be required, we can contact you. Please note individuals will not be identified in publicised feedback, only the area from industry where the feedback has been received (ie. forest manager, forestry contractor – harvest etc.)
