David Drane - CEO

David has only been in the timber industry since April 2007. He has a background in management, marketing small business, public relations and administration having predominantly worked in the finance, sport and recreation industries. He relatively new to the timber industry but he is a fast leaner.
He was awarded the Federal Government's Centenary Medal for services to sport in 2000.
David joined AFCA initally on a part time basis in July 08 and moved into a full time role in December 2008, becoming Manager in July 09.

Garry is a second generation logger with over 40 years experience in the logging industry. GN & VL Leeson are currently contracted to Hancock Victorian plantations and are based in Rosedale, Central Gippsland. With Mechanical harvesting of 280,000 tonnes of plantation timber and the haulage of 500,000 tonnes of plantation logs by 15 b-doubles and 6 conventional trucks.
Garry is taking a step backwards to allow the 3rd generation, Ricky, Jo, Anita and Michael to manage the family business.
Barry is a director within G&R Group that employs40 people and Harvest and Hauls approx 500,000 tonnes of mature pine in the Green Triangle Region. Barry has worked in his family business for over 15 years. Barry started in a truck and has worked his way through all the machines to Harvester Operator.
Barry is a foundation member of AFCA, starting in 2002 and has played a key role in all aspects of the association. Barry has made a significate contribution to the Austimber exhibition held in Mount Gambier 2008 and continues to support planning for 2012. He is also president of the South East Log Hauliers Association.


Colin McCulloch has had a lifetime of involment in the industry. His Company has extensive harvesting Contracts in both Tasmania and Victoria. Colin having taken over the reins from his father.
He has been the Chairman of AFCA since its formation in 2002, was Chairman of and played a leading role in the presentation of Austimber 2008. Colin is Chairman of AusTimber 2012, a member of NAFI's Policy Committee and the Federal Government's "Ministers Advisory Committee for the Forest Industry Development Fund."

Ian has been involve in the timber industry for over 20 years. Ian 's Company Austimber Harvesting & Haulage Pty Ltd has operations in the clearfall and thinning of pine, clearfall of Ash and Bluegum in the Gippsland region plantations. He also has a seperate haulage operation with 12 trucks (B double and Conventionals).
Ian has been an AFCA board member for 1 year however he was involved in the original meetings when AFCA was set up in 2002. Ian says "AFCA is an important industry voice for all contractors, he has enjoyed the networking and interaction with contractors from all parts of Australia. Many of our issues are the same and by working together we can achieve better outcomes for all. The timber industry has a great future. It is up to us all to ensure that contractors get there fair share of return for the significant investment and the critical part they play in the supply chain.
